Yoga Ashram in Uttarkashi, Vishranti Kutir, was started by Sri Swami Yogananda, a disciple of Sri Swami Paramananda, Haridwar. Vishranti means resting in self, and Kutir defines an abode.

Vishranti Kutir, the best yoga ashram in Uttarkashi, runs on a donation basis. We offer Yoga Philosophy, Dhyan Yoga, Vedanta, Upanishads, and Bhagwat Gita With high dedication.

Yoga Ashram in Uttarkashi, Vishranti Kutir, a sister branch of Yog Niketan Dham, came into existence in 2018. Kutir is nestled against the magnificent Himalayas and facing the holy Bhagirathi river.

Yoga Ashram in Uttarkashi, Vishranti Kutir, is situated in the secluded village of Lata, 22 kilometres north of Uttarkashi. The ashram is close by road from Uttarkashi to the Gangotri region.

The high-altitude Himalayan terrain makes Vishranti Kutir an ideal place to stay and join Yoga retreats, self-practising Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation & Sadhana (spiritual practice)

Snow-covered Gangotri peaks attract people from around the globe to visit here and indulge yoga ashram lifestyle.

Swami Yogananda

A Spiritual Master

A disciple of Swami Paramananda, Swami Yogananda was born in Uttar Pradesh, India, on January 10, 1975. Swami Yogananda is a Braham Gyani Guru and met with his renounced Guru in a Satsang (holy celebration) in his hometown. 

After having this spiritual meeting with his Guru, he moved forward on the way to Sannyasa (renunciation) and started a yoga ashram living.

Swami Yogananda, a Bachelor’s in Science has also been undergone a project for UNICEF. He abandoned his home at the age of 28 and started a new life in his Guru’s yoga ashram in Haridwar. 

Swami Yogananda attained pure enlightenment on July 1, 2003, after meditating in his Guru’s ashram, Haridwar. On April 26, 2004, he followed up Sannyasa in Kumbh Mela on the holy banks of river Shipra, Ujjain

Swami Yogananda realized his self-identity after this magnificent experience. He stayed in deep silence for several months and was able to attain pure wisdom after meditating under the guidance of his guru.

He served his guru’s ashram in different roles and offered a broad knowledge of Vedanta, Upanishads, Bhagwat Gita to the visitors, yoga ashram in India.

Accommodation

Vishranti Kutir has open and hygienic rooms for the disciples. The rooms are simple and functional. We have two categories of accommodation: -

Shared Twin Rooms:-

With attached private bathrooms.

Dormitory:-

5 Beds with adjacent shared bathroom.

Food:-

Simple, Nutritious and healthy Vegetarian meals are offered on self-service basis.

Walking shoes, Sandals, Yoga Mat, Toiletries, Torch, Comfortable clothes, Meditation shawls, Personal items.
