Yoga Ashram in Uttarkashi, Vishranti Kutir, is situated in the secluded village of Lata, 22 kilometres north of Uttarkashi. The ashram is close by road from Uttarkashi to the Gangotri region.
The high-altitude Himalayan terrain makes Vishranti Kutir an ideal place to stay and join Yoga retreats, self-practising Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation & Sadhana (spiritual practice).Â
Snow-covered Gangotri peaks attract people from around the globe to visit and indulge in the yoga ashram lifestyle.
A disciple of Swami Paramananda, Swami Yogananda was born in Uttar Pradesh, India, on January 10, 1975. Swami Yogananda is a Braham Gyani Guru and met with his renounced Guru in a Satsang (holy celebration) in his hometown.Â
After having this spiritual meeting with his Guru, he moved forward on the way to Sannyasa (renunciation) and started a yoga ashram living.
Swami Yogananda, a Bachelor’s in Science, has also undertaken a project for UNICEF. He abandoned his home at the age of 28 and started a new life in his Guru’s yoga ashram in Haridwar.Â
Swami Yogananda attained pure enlightenment on July 1, 2003, after meditating in his Guru’s ashram, Haridwar. On April 26, 2004, he followed up Sannyasa at the Kumbh Mela on the holy banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain.Â
Swami Yogananda realized his self-identity after this magnificent experience. He remained in deep silence for several months and attained pure wisdom after meditating under his guru’s guidance.
He served his guru’s ashram in various roles and offered visitors a broad knowledge of Vedanta, Upanishads, and the Bhagwat Gita at one ashram in Rishikesh.
